Doug Thompson, MSW, lSW
“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change” - Carl Rogers
Doug seeks to build genuine connections where people feel safe, seen and respected. This is the space in which our natural wisdom is most accessible to us, and where our instinct towards healing and growth is most active.
We all face moments of pain and suffering in life, and we are all free to choose how to respond to this reality. We can use our challenges as opportunities to practice self-compassion, graceful acceptance, and committed action. Our struggles can serve as invitations to address present day challenges, or revisit and heal an old wound. Whatever distress you may be feeling, a meaningful, authentic, and connected life is possible, and Doug would be honored to work with you to chart a path forward.
Doug received his bachelors of science in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and his Masters of Social Work from UC Berkeley. His therapeutic style incorporates elements of Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Dialectical Behavioral skills, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Doug works with adult and adolescent clients. Those struggling with depression, anxiety, and PTSD are good fits for his therapeutic style.
In his free time Doug enjoys reading and writing poetry, and spending time in the outdoors with his wife and two children.
